Active Tasks Toolbar

The Active Tasks Toolbar normally sits immediately under the main menu bar at the top of the display. If the taskbar is set to the top, it will be below the toolbar. It always contains a number of tools that give quick access to the Navigator and Scratchpad windows and Report Destination list.

Thereafter, it contains tools for each of the currently active tasks. The current task is set on (indicated as a depressed button).
You can use the toolbar to immediately bring to the front the Navigator or any of the 4 Scratchpads by clicking on the appropriate tool. You can select an alternative Report Destination from the list tool. You can also switch the currently active task by clicking on one of the task icons.
Every menu function from a hierarchical menu opens the task associated with that menu. For example, selecting Masters — Parts — View will open the Parts task, add the Parts task icon to the toolbar and add the Parts menu (with quick-keys active) to the menu bar, and finally open the Parts Maintenance window. The additional menu, task tool and window are all linked, so that when you click on a window of an alternative task, the menu and task tool will switch accordingly. So if you had both Parts Maintenance and Customer Maintenance windows open, both Parts and Customers menus would show depending on the window which was on top. Clicking on an inactive task will switch the context to that task and bring the uppermost window of that task to the top of others. When no window is open in an opened task the menu context will change to reflect the task you have switched to. In this way, even if you have closed all windows of a task you can still get back to the menu to operate a function.

Right-click on the toolbar to open a style control that enables you to see tools with text or in a larger size.
Finally, you can move the toolbar by clicking and dragging the left end of the toolbar. Dragging it to the bottom of the display area places it there. Dragging it to the working area of the screen makes it a floating palette-style toolbar.
