Parts: Part Costs Update

Part Costs Update

Part Costs Update - Costs pane

For details on part costing methods and behaviour, see the Product Costing window.

The Update costs button function on the Part Maintenance and Log Work Order Operational Performance windows, and the Bill of Material, Process Route menus will obtain a single-level cost analysis for the selected part and, can subsequently update the part’s current costs and selling price.

Other than when opened from the Log Work Order Operational Performance window, the processing invoked is identical to the Product Costing Roll-up assembly function applied to only the immediate BoM level of the selected part. If the part has no BoM, is not an “M” type part and has zero material cost or a non-zero labour cost the last purchase history cost will be applied.

When opened from the Log Work Order Operational Performance window, the analysis is based on the average costs for all Operation receipts and the actual parts issued to the selected Work Order. This analysis is based on history and does not use the same processing as other Update cost analyses that use the Bill of Materials and Process Route values.

The results are displayed for all cost categories. In addition and in the Price pane, the Selling Price is shown re-calculated based on the Mark-up or Gross Margin set for the part.

The Update… buttons provided will only be available if you have Security Settings such that you can Edit a part (i.e. “Masters” and “Parts” on the “Masters” menu, and “Parts” and “Edit” on the “Parts” menu.). The Prohibit auto-cost-update and Prohibit auto-price-update flags are ignored in these functions.

Costs

Field

Description

New Material Cost

The material cost element for the part calculated during the roll-up of costs.

Current Material Cost

Parts Master. Current material cost. {PTMFILE.PTMCMC number 3dp}

% Variance on current

The % variance between the calculated material cost and its current cost stored on file.

% Variance on standard

The % variance of the calculated material cost for the part to the standard cost for this element held on file.

New Labour Cost

The calculated labour cost element for this assembly calculated during roll-up.

Current Labour Cost

Parts Master. Current labour cost. {PTMFILE.PTMCLC number 3dp}

% Variance on current

The % variance of calculated labour cost for the single-level roll-up against the part’s current cost.

% Variance on standard

The % variance of calculated labour cost against the standard labour cost element for the part.

New Outwork Cost

The outwork cost calculated during this single level roll-up analysis.

Current Outwork Cost

Parts Master. Current outwork cost. {PTMFILE.PTMCOC number 3dp}

% Variance on current

The % variance between the calculated single level roll-up outwork cost against the part’s stored current cost.

% Variance on standard

The % variance of calculated outwork cost against the standard outwork cost element for the part.

New Overhead Receiving Cost

The receiving overhead element of cost for this part calculated during the single level roll-up.

Current Overhead Receiving Cost

Parts Master. Current receiving overhead cost. {PTMFILE.PTMCROC number 3dp}

% Variance on current

The % variance of calculated receiving overhead cost against the standard receiving overhead cost element for the part.

% Variance on standard

The % variance between the calculated single level roll-up receiving overhead cost against the part’s stored current cost.

New Overhead Work Centre Cost

The labour overhead element of cost calculated during single level roll-up.

Current Overhead Work Centre Cost

Parts Master. Current overhead (burden) cost. {PTMFILE.PTMCOVC number 3dp}

% Variance on current

The % variance between the calculated single level roll-up labour overhead cost against the part’s stored current cost.

% Variance on standard

The % variance of calculated labour overhead cost against the standard labour overhead cost element for the part.

New Total Cost

The total cost for the assembly as calculated during the single level roll-up.

Current Total Cost

The total current cost for this part, stored in the parts master.

% Variance on current

The overall % variance between the single level roll-up cost and the stored current cost.

% Variance on standard

The % variance between the single level roll-up cost for the entire assembly and the currently stored standard cost.

New This-level Cost

The This-level value calculated for this part. The This-level value represents the cost of purchase components and the Process Route and ignores costs associated with sub-assemblies.

Current This-level Cost

Parts Master. Current this-level cost. {PTMFILE.PTMCTLC number 3dp}

% Variance on current

The % variance between the calculated This-level value and that stored in the part’s current costs.

% Variance on standard

The % variance between the calculated This-level value during roll-up against the standard cost stored for this part.

Button

Action

Update Part Current Costs from Calculated

To update the current costs to those calculated in this single level roll-up.

Re-calculate Part Current Costs Multi-Level

To re-calculate the current costs of all lower-level components and sub-assemblies. This will permanently change lower level costs immediately. An Alert Message window will open if cost errors are encountered.

Warning WARNING: This process will operate on components and sub-assemblies in a similar way to a Masters — Global Changes — Product Costing Roll-up assembly current costs function but is specific to only parts in the BoM structure. However, the parent you have selected will not be updated unless you subsequently click on the update button.
