Financial Planning Selection

Financial Planning Selection offers an assortment of options for the financial forecasting process. The Forecasting range can not extend beyond the bounds of the MRP results. If you choose the Current status, no predictions beyond the current day will be made.

You can set the creditor and debtor periods in actual days.

The Include option section defaults to the criteria used in the last MRP run. You should enter an average discount rate for the Production Plan and Forecast sales.

A choice of using standard or current parts costs is provided.

Field	Description
Forecasting Range	Cash flow forecasting will be carried out over the date range selected.
From date	Enter the date from which forecasting should be commenced.
To date	Enter the date to which forecasting should extend.
Current Status – No Cash Forecast	Only the current status will be analysed with no cash flow forecast.
Show Daily Details	Cash flow analysis will list the details on a daily basis over the forecast range.
Show Weekly Summary	Cash flow analysis will list only weekly summaries showing the position on the last working day of the week.
Credit days	Enter the number of days that you will be provided with credit by your suppliers. This value is used for all purchases.
Debit days	Enter the number of days that on average your customers remain in debt to you for dispatches made.
Use Current Costing for Parts	Current costs will be used to value stock and work-in-progress during the cash flow forecasting.
Use Standard Costing for Parts	Standard costs for parts will be used in calculating values of stock and work-in-progress.
Stock Valuation	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
WIP Valuation	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Unpaid Invoices	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Purchase Orders	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Quotations	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Sales Orders	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Jobs Due for Completion	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Production Plan Active Items	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Production Plan Inactive Items	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Production Forecast Items	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
MRP Planned Orders and Production	Check against those factors you want to include in the cash flow forecast. The default settings are those, by implication, that formed the criteria of the last MRP processing run.
Nominal discount rate	Enter a value for the nominal discount rate which will apply to the sale of production plan items. Production plan items are assumed to be sold, to as yet unknown customers.

Button	Action
Revert to MRP Run Criteria	To revert the options to the criteria set for the last MRP run.
Cancel	Aborts the process currently in session. The keyboard equivalent is the Esc key for Windows computers and Command-.(full stop or period) for the Mac.
Run	To process the cash flow forecast, after making the appropriate selections. This processing can take some time, often several hours.

Inventory History Cost Analysis Results

The Inventory movement financial analysis procedure provides the user with the ability to analyse cost details of inventory movements over any date range that history has been maintained. A complete breakdown of both costs and inventory movement types is provided with a calculated inventory value for the period start and end.

WARNING: Financial Forecasting functions are not available to those who only have licensed the Inventory version of the program.

The analysis scans the Stock History file for inventory movements and applies the current part cost elements to arrive at the movement value. Select the cost basis for the analysis, either standard or current

NOTE: This does not take the historic cost of movements. It assumes that part costs have not changed throughout the date range.

You will be provided with the Inventory Movement Analysis Options window in which you can set options for the analysis.

You may run another analysis by clicking on the New Analysis button which brings forward the date range selection dialogue again so that a different analysis criteria can be applied.

You can obtain a printed version of the results by clicking on the Print Results button.

Button	Action
New Analysis	To select new criteria for a further analysis.
Print Results	To print a report of the analysis shown on this window.

You may either directly enter a date range, or use the convenience buttons provided and click on the Ok button or press the enter key.

You will be warned that the system can not calculate the average daily movements if the start date selected is earlier than the start of the active Make calendar. You will also be warned if the start date selected precedes the earliest inventory movement record on file.

The analysis will then start. It may well take some time as it must first value the entire stock, then look at all inventory movements back to the selected start date.

Field	Description
From date	Enter the start date from which analysis should be carried out.
To date	Enter the date up to which analysis should be carried out.

Button	Action
Last Week	Click to set the date range to cover the last week.
Last Month	Click to set the date range to cover the last month.
Last Quarter	Click to set the date range to cover the last financial quarter.
Last Year	Click to set the date range to cover the last financial year.
Cancel	Aborts the process currently in session. The keyboard equivalent is the Esc key for Windows computers and Command-.(full stop or period) for the Mac.
OK	The OK button updates the data you have entered, or confirms the selection and/or processes the function you have called.

Provides functions for financial analysis not associated with the Ledgers license option.

WARNING: Financial Forecasting functions are not available to those who only have licensed the Inventory version of the program.

Line	Function	Keys
Inventory Value Movement	Provides a detailed analysis of inventory movement by cost over a period of time which you may select in the dialogue box that follows. This function opens the Inventory History Cost Analysis Results window and also opens the Inventory Movement Analysis Options window to control the analysis.
Cash Flow Prediction	Provides a cash flow forecast for the current calendar period based on the MRP recommendations and current sales, works and Purchase Orders. This function opens the Cash Flow Forecast window and also opens the Financial Planning Selection window to control the analysis.

Financial planning uses inventory, order, invoice, and MRP Results to provide a quasi Cash Flow Analysis of the Sales Income and Purchase outgoing expenditure. It does not calculate labour or overhead costs. It only provides a cash analysis on direct material transactions.

When you operate the menu function or operate the Run Analysis Again button you open the Financial Planning Selection window in which you can choose options for the analysis.

WARNING: Financial Forecasting functions are not available to those who only have licensed the Inventory version of the program.

The window has 2 tab panes.

Results Listing
Graph

Results Listing

This pane shows the results in a list form.

Field	Description
Results List	Lists all days, or end of week days, in the forecast horizon. Shows calculated cash flow values.
Total Profit	The total profit calculated during the forecast. This does not include any consideration of Labour and Overhead expenses incurred.
Settings and options	The criteria selected which forms the basis of the cash flow calculations in the listings.

Button	Action
Print Results	To print a report of the results.
Export Results	To export the results as tab-delimited text for analysis in other programs.
Run Analysis Again	To run another analysis with alternative options. It opens the Financial Planning Selection window.

Graph

Shows the results graphically using the Graphs subwindow.

LINUX and SUN SOLARIS ONLY: Graphing is not supported on terminals using the Linux or Sun Solaris operating systems.

Field	Description
Selected Lines Only	Check to show only the selected dates in the list.
Start Date slider	To adjust the start of dates shown. The range is from the beginning date on the list up to the date 95% through the list.
Extent slider	To adjust the extent of the dates shown. The range is from the 5% to 100% of the number of dates in the list.
